DEEPLY ROOTED POEM:

NIGGER
Obama running for president keeps us blind
Its 2008 but it’s like its 1958 with the racist mind
Police killing and beating blacks
Poor youth is under attack
Crack no longer as popular
Guns is and kids not afraid to pop at cha
50% drop out rate
They say U nothing without education
So what else is there to do
Join a gang and claim True
Educated black man can’t do the finer things
Owners not interested in a black audience
Still a Nigger when you rich
People want to get rid of the word
What about the treatment
Caused by the people with the ill’ment
I’m a Nigger, you a Nigger, wouldn’t you like to be a Nigger too

TAKING U BACK:

Taking U back to the Classic, No One Can Do It Better. The Dr. Dre produced debut album by The D.O.C., released June 16, 1989 and certified Gold three months later. Allmusic gives the album a five-star rating and describes it as "an early landmark of West Coast Rap" as well as "an undeniable masterpiece." The D.O.C. shows more of a lyrical style, not talking about guns, drugs and violence. Most of the songs were influenced and sampled from funk artists such as Marvin Gaye, Parliament, and Funkadelic.

Not long after his debut album was released, his vocal cords were damaged in a car accident. This proved to be an insurmountable obstacle for his continued career as a vocalist. Having already contributed lyrics and vocals to N.W.A.'s second album, Straight Outta Compton and to Eazy E's debut, Eazy-Duz-It. He remained important to Dr. Dre, who used his talents as one of the writers for his debut solo album The Chronic, and Snoop Dogg debut solo album Doggystylye. Check out Tracklisting and Videos from the album below:

1"It's Funky Enough"
2"Mind Blowin'"
3"Lend Me an Ear"

DEEPLY ROOTED POEM: Happy Mother's Day

My Queen Nefertiti
Black girl head of the family
You my Black Queen
I see in my dreams
So strong, you my back bone
I lean on
For the Love you give
I can’t believe your strength
The most beautiful women I ever saw
So I give you a kiss on the jaw
To show my affection
My life is a dedication
To the one that brought me into this world
Showed me nothing but Love
It’s a bond formed at birth
That can’t be cursed
You brighten up my day
The God of Sun
.......................Dedicated to all Mothers of the World, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

CLASSIC KICKS: Nike Air Pippen 1 White/Silver/Black

The retro game is flooded with color ways and models that sometimes mar our fond memories of the first time we cracked the box top and smelled those sneakers we begged mom or pop to buy. But sometimes they get it right, like with this Pippen 1.
The shoe that made its wave alongside the great Michael Jordan is being brought back into the game thanks to the good people at Nike. With a few color ways set to drop before the years end these are in high demand and it looks like a new spring flavored version is set to hit shelves this weekend. Hit your local retailers on May 7th to score a pair and hit the jump to see what they are all about............Don't Miss Out!

DEEPLY ROOTED POEM:

RWANDA IN AMERICA
Same struggle different days
Us blacks ain’t ever change in our ways
We still fight for what ours
Never was a race of cowards
The only difference is we now war with each other
Rather shoot a mutha fucka
Than show Love to a brother
Killing over territory that we don’t own
On the 5 o’clock news another black man blown
By a 4’4 in the hands of another black man
A nigga done kicked in the back door
Evidence shows it was over yae yo
The dope game ain’t nothing but a trap
Government floods dope on every black community on the map
Whitey controls the game and we play
Passing it down to the younger generation like a relay
Not preaching
Just speaking
Letting my people know we need to wake up and realize
It’s all Genocide

CLASSIC KICKS: Nike Foamposite “Cough Drop” Black/Red Ice at House of Hoops

Both the Eggplants and the Coppers were huge drops this year. Well Nike is back with another one for the summer by way of the Foamposite “Cough Drop” in a black/red ice. First dropping in 1997, it is back to keep you fresh for the summertime.
The upper of the Cough Drop is dominated by black and only allows red to shine via the Nike Swoosh and Penny logo. However, it is when you get to the outsole that everything changes up. The retro sneaker takes on the usual translucent outsole and adds in the color red to give the shoe a distinctive “cough drop” look. So what do you all think about the Cough Drop? Will you be there to cop a pair on June 19?

TAKING U BACK:

Taking U back to the Classic The Great Adventures of Slick Rick, the debut album by hip hop performer Slick Rick, released in 1988 (see 1988 in music), three years after releasing his famous song with beatboxer Doug E. Fresh, "La Di Da Di".
As Slick Rick is often considered by many to be the greatest storyteller in hip-hop history, his debut album acts for the most part as a showcase of his apparent storytelling aptitude. Throughout the album, Slick Rick plays two characters- Slick Rick the Ruler and Emcee Ricky D. Within the context of these chronicled accounts, a variety of subjects are addressed; many of which inject at least some amount of humor, whether it be overtly obvious or not.
Though the album is known for its use of seemingly irreverent humor, the most famous song on the album, "Children's Story" is a tragic warning about the lifestyle of crime and violence. Sex is the focus of two of the offerings on the album, "Treat Her Like a Prostitute" and "Indian Girl (An Adult Story)". The former was probably the most controversial for being what seemed at the time to be nothing more than a misogynistic take on women.

Tracks such as "The Ruler's Back" and "Let's Get Crazy" stray from the path of chronological documentation to give way to party jams; and "Teenage Love" is about the fragile and sometimes insincere nature of young relationships. Overall, it is an album combining the non-combative arrogance of a young rapper with his more human side to create arguably one of the most influential hip hop albums of its time. Tracklisting and videos released off the album below:
1."Treat Her Like A Prostitute"
2."The Ruler's Back"
3."Children's Story"
4."The Moment I Feared"
5."Let's Get Crazy"
6."Indian Girl (An Adult Story)"
7."Teenage Love"
8."Mona Lisa"
9."Kit (What's The Scoop)"
10."Hey Young World"
11."Teacher, Teacher"
12."Lick The Balls"
