CLASSIC KICKS: Jordan 2011 Release Confirmed

The Air Jordan III is one of those magnanimous models. Everybody loves it and its been the point of reference for several brands outside of Nike.

It looks like the shoe is on the way back in its OG form, as we recently learned that they will make a return in 2011. The shoes feature a white leather upper, along with infamous elephant print on the toe and heel. the back of the midsole features a black design, while red covers the inner lining. Stay tuned in for more information as it arise.
The Air Jordan 7 will be hitting shelves again in Spring 2011 in this great White/Orion Blue-Black-Infrared color way. The shoes are set to employ a white leather base and utilize the sole, tongue and ankle support to hold down the accenting.

The stacked geometric outsole is where you can find the Orion Blue-Black-Infrared hits as well as the tongue. The ankle support holds down the Orion Blue and black to make this one a very fresh spring release. We can see these flooding the Spring Streets. Look for these in March.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: French Montana (Feat. Curren$y)_So High

Off the Mac & Cheese 2 Mixtape.

Taking U back to the Classic debut album by Black Moon titled Enta da Stage. Released on October 19, 1993 through Nervous Records, the album was produced by DJ Evil Dee and Mr. Walt of Da Beatminerz. Despite being critically acclaimed and having two singles that charted on the Billboard Hot 100 ("Who Got da Props?" and "I Got Cha Opin"), the album sold poorly. Nonetheless, Enta da Stage served as a precursor to the resurgence of the New York hip hop scene in the mid-1990s.

Much of the acclaim the album received was due to the performance of lead MC Buckshot. His lyrics were loaded with violent narratives about a grim reality filled with guns, weed and violence. Buckshot was praised not only for his lyricism, but also for his lyrical delivery and breath control, with his flow and dramatic, conversational vocal tones being seen as original and entertaining.

This album marked a turning point in hip hop and has also been described as "Era defining".Watch the videos released off the album (below)

REMINDER: Happy Birthday 2Pac

Today we are celebrating the 39th Birthday of The Greatest rapper to walk the face of the Earth, Tupac Amaru Shakur. A true Prophet for the Hip Hop generation, 2Pac was gunned down at the tender age of 25. In one of his songs he ask the question, How long will U mourn me, and the answer is FOREVER.

So today Deeply Rooted is sharing with U a rare MTV documentary titled, In My Own Words. This documentary was filmed the year 2Pac was killed in 1996. Watch (below)

Today is his birtday so its only right that we take U back to Me Against the World, the third solo album by 2Pac, released March 14, 1995 on Jive Records through Interscope Records.

The album was recorded in a matter of weeks before the artist was to go to prison on sexual assault charges stemming from a 1993 case in which a woman accused him and two others in his entourage of sexual abuse. It was this impending prison sentence which many believe might have contributed to 2Pac's artistic re-emergence on record, as his material is believed to have become markedly more "confessional," "reflective," and "soul-baring."

Me Against the World, released while 2Pac was imprisoned, made an immediate impact on the charts, soaring to the number one spot upon its release, and making 2Pac the first artist to have an album debut at the top of the Billboard 200 while serving time in prison. The album was also one of 2Pac's most well received by critics and fans, with many calling it the best effort of his career, and one of the greatest hip hop albums of all-time.
Enjoy the videos released off the album (below)

Re-Capping VH1's Behind The Music: Eve (Full Video)

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Stalley_Harsh Avenue

The official video for Stalley's "Harsh Avenue" directed by Creative Control.

Community’s crime invested makes minds infested
Forgetting of codes and loyalty
Death path to royalty
Praying for one night that’s mellow
Hello! 911 please hold
Is what I was told
Gotta Police ourselves in the community
Bring about unity
Getting rid of ignorance with intelligence
Speaking on something relevant
Hood heroes aren’t Marcus, Malcolm, and Marley
Now that’s a problem from Cali to Harlem, niggas is starving
Looking for a way out
So they bring out them glock 9’s
This revolution won’t be televised
Niggas realize and stop tripping
We the attackers and the mutha fucking victims
On the untold news
Another nigga sings the blues

Never seen tears from a man’s eyes
Well listen to the hood cry
Listen to the hood cry
Listen to the hood cry

Lil shorty growing up no father figure
His only attachment is to the dope dealer collecting figures
Now how you figure, shorty gone amount to something
Always being told he’ll amount to nothing
So he goes through school thinking shit is useless
But the truth is
Niggas is uneducated
I date it 3-12-05
Where shorty got high
And decided to get live
Robbing blacks just as broke as him
Chasing the American Dream of having a Benz
Windows down with his tilted brim
One night things got out of hand
Now an armed robbery turned into a murder charge
17 and on trial for his life just cause he wanted to live large

Never seen tears from a man’s eye
Well listen to the hood cry
Listen to the hood cry
Listen to the mutha fucking Hood Cry

I stand tall on my beliefs and my knowing
No one can strip me of the things I’ve been learning
My background and my home land represent me
Red, black, and green are the colors breaded in me
I’m a black man not considered equal of all man kind
Only time I’m free is in my own state of mind
For 300 + years I was owned by another man
Making him and his family rich working on their land
Stripped of my past, so my identity is what I have to hold on to
So keep it pure so it lives from generations through

The shoes are set to drop in grey/charcoal, blue/gum, black/gum and brown/black. The 5 eyelet design can be seen in the images above and that should be enough proof to let you know that these shoes are seriously casual. Look for them to drop soon to retailers such as FreshNGood.

Official video off the Up There Mixtape by Gunz who graced our Artist Spotlight not long ago.

We are more than just clothing.........We are a Lifestyle!

Tacking U back to the Classic, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, debut album by Wu-Tang Member Raekwon , released in 1995. Fellow member Ghostface Killah is featured on most of the album with RZA handling the production in its entirety. This album is known as a pioneer of the Mafioso rap genre, with an emphasis on elaborate lyricism wherein Italian Mafia references, and organized crime abound.

Cuban Linx is commonly referred to as The Purple Tape because the original cassette's plastic was entirely purple. Raekwon marked the tape distinctively as a reference to drug dealers' method of tagging their product. The album is often commemorated for its introduction of a distinctive slang individual to Raekwon and Ghostface; heavy use of the Supreme Alphabet and Supreme Mathematics, blended with terms picked up on the inner-city streets of New York, as well as several songs based around detailed, loosely-connected stories.

Seeking to musically express Raekwon's blend of Five Percenter creed and inner-city experience, producer RZA worked intensively on a polished sound, slower and more layered than that of the Clan's previous efforts, using strings, piano loops and vocal samples from Kung Fu movies, and Mafia films. That hard work definitely paid off because now the album has become a staple in Hip-Hop!
