Taking U back to the Classic Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik (Southern Playalistic Cadillac Muzik) the debut album of hip-hop duo OutKast, released April 26, 1994 on LaFace Records. Recorded at D.A.R.P. Studios, Purple Dragon, Bosstown and Doppler Studios in Atlanta, Georgia throughout 1992 to 1994, the album featured production by the Atlanta-area production team Organized Noize. The themes of Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik dealt with the pimping profession and the lifestyle it entailed.From beginning to end Outkast takes U on a trip throughout Atlanta, making U feel like you are visiting the city without being there. With no features other than Goodie Mob, who are family, the album gave U all of Outkast with its southern appeal.
The album recieved rave reviews and the album was certified platinum in a year. Also Outkast took home The Source Award for best new artist. This was a huge win for the south, letting the world know that we are a force to be reckon with and we won't be denied. Southernplayalistcadillacmuzik is one of its kind and will always be remembered as that ice breaker for southern music.
