ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Nesby Phips

Nesby Phips, is an Emcee/Producer from New Orleans. He’s the owner & operator of Bakadahouse Music, his production company which started in 2003. “Thats where I did my music, in the Back-of-the-house. It was a no brainer.” In his 11yr strech as a musical hybrid he’s worked with artists from Tabi Bonney, Wiz Khalifa, Chip the Ripper, Stalley, Ski Beatz, Re, B.J. the Chicago Kidd, Haziq Ali, Fiend, Lil Wayne, Mack Maine, Calicoe the Champ, Brasco, Al Fatz to name a few.

Last year Phips released the 1st edition of the Phips Files titled “The Phipstape”, but he’s most recently been recognized for the work he’s put in with underground phenom/childhood friend , Curren$y & their Jets movement. The two have connected to make underground hits such as “Top of the Money”, “The Seventies”, “Lost in Transit”, “Mazaltov” & “Wave Race” to name a few. They have recently connected on a joint titled “Beeper Bill (Prioritze)” which is on the Pilot talk album.

Now Phips is back with The "B Side" presented by Bakadahouse Music and BluRoc along with Jets International. CLASSIC KICKS: Nike Air Max 1 "ACG" Pack

The Nike Air Max 1 will be meeting the ACG line to create the Nike Air Max 1 ACG Pack. The colorful pack features four new silhouettes of the shoe that all look great.

The shoes are set to come in either Dark Royal/Varsity Royal, Brown/Black, Black/Green/Red/White and Purple/Red/Navy/Pink. Each one has a traditional white midsole and the ACG branding on the tongue. Taking U back to the Mecca And The Soul Brother, the critically acclaimed 1992 debut album from the Mount Vernon duo, Pete Rock & CL Smooth. To date, this album has been widely acclaimed as one of the greatest Hip Hop albums of all time.

Mecca And The Soul Brother followed on the heels of the duo's EP; All Souled Out, released in 1991. Despite being a critical success, it had little commercial success in comparison to other noteworthy releases of 1992, such as Dr. Dre's The Chronic. The first single, "They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)", a dedication to their deceased friend; "Trouble" T. R.O.Y, has gone on to become not only their signature hit, but also one of hip hop's most highly regarded songs.

Other topics on the album range from life in the ghetto ("Ghettos of the Mind"), the teachings of the Nation of Islam ("Anger in the Nation"), bootlegging ("Straighten It Out"), and the self-explanatory "Lots of Lovin'" (the third single to be released from the album). Nike Basketball is sure to gives some of you sneaker heads flashbacks when you see this new pair of old shoes. The Nike Air Max Uptempo 97 is making its way back out the gate in its original colorway in what looks to be one of the years more promising releases.
The shoes feature white tumbled leather and black suede with hits of blue falling on the sole and along the upper. These made quite a big splash when they were initially released and it is anticipated that their return will have the same presence. For now they are available at Eastbay.

Taking U back to the Classic Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik (Southern Playalistic Cadillac Muzik) the debut album of hip-hop duo OutKast, released April 26, 1994 on LaFace Records. Recorded at D.A.R.P. Studios, Purple Dragon, Bosstown and Doppler Studios in Atlanta, Georgia throughout 1992 to 1994, the album featured production by the Atlanta-area production team Organized Noize. The themes of Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik dealt with the pimping profession and the lifestyle it entailed.

From beginning to end Outkast takes U on a trip throughout Atlanta, making U feel like you are visiting the city without being there. With no features other than Goodie Mob, who are family, the album gave U all of Outkast with its southern appeal.

The album recieved rave reviews and the album was certified platinum in a year. Also Outkast took home The Source Award for best new artist. This was a huge win for the south, letting the world know that we are a force to be reckon with and we won't be denied. Southernplayalistcadillacmuzik is one of its kind and will always be remembered as that ice breaker for southern music.Enjoy some videos released off the album:
