DEEPLY ROOTED POEM:

HOOD CRY

Community’s crime invested makes minds infested
Forgetting of codes and loyalty
Death path to royalty
Praying for one night that’s mellow
Hello! 911 please hold
Is what I was told
Gotta Police ourselves in the community
Bring about unity
Getting rid of ignorance with intelligence
Speaking on something relevant
Hood heroes aren’t Marcus, Malcolm, and Marley
Now that’s a problem from Cali to Harlem, niggas is starving
Looking for a way out
So they bring out them glock 9’s
This revolution won’t be televised
Niggas realize and stop tripping
We the attackers and the mutha fucking victims
On the untold news
Another nigga sings the blues

Never seen tears from a man’s eyes
Well listen to the hood cry
Listen to the hood cry
Listen to the hood cry

Lil shorty growing up no father figure
His only attachment is to the dope dealer collecting figures
Now how you figure, shorty gone amount to something
Always being told he’ll amount to nothing
So he goes through school thinking shit is useless
But the truth is
Niggas is uneducated
I date it 3-12-05
Where shorty got high
And decided to get live
Robbing blacks just as broke as him
Chasing the American Dream of having a Benz
Windows down with his tilted brim
One night things got out of hand
Now an armed robbery turned into a murder charge
17 and on trial for his life just cause he wanted to live large

Never seen tears from a man’s eye
Well listen to the hood cry
Listen to the hood cry
Listen to the mutha fucking Hood Cry
